Documents for a Chinese visa application

 

In order to strengthen the prevention and control of novel coronavirus, reduce and avoid the risk of cross- infection.

  1. Please wear a mask when you come to our center.

  2. If you have symptoms such as cough or fever, please isolate yourself or seek medical treatment

NOTEAll visas will be single-entry 3 months Valid (need to entry into China within 3 months) and charged, except for the R visa for high level talents and the S2 visa for their spouses and minor children.
 

The Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Calgary only accepts applications of those who currently reside in AB, SK and NW Territory.

 

The application process and required documents are as follows:

 

1. Fill in the application form online, print out the confirmation page and the application form, and sign both the confirmation page and the section 9 of the application form.  

 2. Make an appointment online and print out the visa appointment confirmation form. Each applicant gets his/her own appointment number and confirmation form. It is not accepted that more than one applicant use one same appointment number or form.

3. A photo within 6 months (passport size)

4. an unsealed envelope (Canada Post Xpresspost, small size) with the applicants name and address as the addressee.

5. Debit card for payment (We don't accept a credit card)

6. Visa application documents

  • An online application form;

  • Passport and a copy of its information page;

  • A copy of valid legal status in Canada (working permit, study permit, PR card, etc.) of non-Canadian passport applicants;  

  • A copy of Covid 19 vaccination certificate;

  • A copy of valid health card;

  • Travel history during the past 6 months;

* Family members refer to: spouse, parents, spouse’ parents, children under the age of 18

For S1 visa, original and a copy of Proof of family relationship between the applicant and the inviter (certificate of family relationship, marriage relationship, marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.) are required; For S2 visa, only a copy of the above mentioned proof is required; 

Invitation letter from the inviter who’s working in China;

A copy of the inviter's passport information page and the work/ residence permit.

Those who apply for Z visa can apply for S1 visa for family members at the same time, documents mentioned in are required;

Those who apply for Z, M or F visa can apply for S2 visa for family members at the same time, documents mentioned in are required;

*For humanitarian S2 visa, a copy of the Death Certificate/Critically Ill Notification of the deceased/critical patient in China, a copy of his/her foreign passport, and a copy of proof of relationship with the applicant are required. Adult children can also apply.

Family members of Chinese citizens or foreigners with permanent residence status in China.

 

* Family members refer to: spouse, parents, spouse's parents, children and children's spouses, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren

For Q1 visa, original and a copy of Proof of family relationship between the applicant and the inviter (family book, marriage certificate, birth certificate, relationship certificate notarized by a Notary Public or issued by a Police Office, etc.) are required; For Q2 visa, only a copy of the above mentioned proof is required;

Invitation letter from a Chinese living in China or a foreigner with permanent residence in China;

A copy of both sides of the Chinese inviter’s ID card, or the foreigner inviter’s passport information page and both sides of the Chinese permanent residence card.

*For humanitarian Q2 visa, a copy of the Death Certificate/Critically Ill Notification of the deceased/critical patient in China,  a copy of both sides of his/her Chinese ID card, and a copy of proof of relationship with the applicant are required.

R visa

High level talents

CONFIRMATION LETTER FOR HIGH LEVEL FOREIGN TALENTS

*Spouses and minor children of high level talents can apply for S2 visa by submitting a copy of proof of relationship (marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.).

NOTEAll visas will be single-entry 3 months Valid and charged, except for the R visa for high level talents and the S2 visa for their spouses and minor children.

   

8) Previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas (applicable for those who were Chinese citizens and have obtained foreign citizenship)

1. If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, you should provide the last original Chinese passport, as well as two copies of data page of both Canadian passport and Chinese passport (on the same page).

Note: If applicant cannot provide the original and copy of your last original Chinese passport or your last original Chinese passport has expired, please submit the Canadian Citizenship certificate or card (Original and photocopy).

2. If you have obtained Chinese visas before and apply for a Chinese visa with a renewed foreign passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, you should present the photocopy of the previous passport's data page as well as the previous Chinese visa page (If your name on the current passport differs from that on the previous one, you must provide an official document of name change).

9) An applicant of Chinese origin, born in Canada or other foreign country, applies for a Chinese visa for the first time. The applicant’s parents were under the following condition when the applicant was born,

1. Both parents are Chinese Citizen and one of them has been granted Canadian Permanent Resident (PR card).

2. One of the parents is foreign Citizen, and another is Chinese Citizen and has been granted Canadian Permanent Resident (PR card).

3. Both parents used to have Chinese Citizen, and they are foreign Citizen when the applicant was born.

If the applicant meets one of the above conditions, please provide:

a. Photocopy of the applicant’s Birth certificate. (The birth certificate obtain parents’ name.)

b. Both parents’ legal status in Canada when the applicant was born,

If parent is holding Permanent Resident (PR card), please provide photocopy of Canadian landing paper or photocopy both side of PR card.

If parent has been granted Canadian Citizen, please provide photocopy of Canadian Citizenship certificate, or photocopy both side of Citizenship card, or photocopy of parent’s Canadian passport personal information page which the issue date earlier than applicant’s date of birth.

c. Legal status in Canada for both applicants’ parents,

If parent is holding Permanent Resident (PR card), please provide photocopy of current valid Chinese passport personal information page.

If parent has been granted Canadian Citizen, please provide photocopy of current valid Canadian passport personal information page.

Warm Reminder: According to The Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, the applicant has Chinese nationality and must apply Chinese Travel Document (please apply in the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Calgary) to visit China if the applicant meets the following conditions:

1. The applicant was born in Canada, and at least one of his or her parents is a Chinese citizen. At the time of birth, none of his or her Chinese parents has obtained the "permanent residence card" in Canada or the right of permanent residence in any other country.

2. The applicant was born in China. One of his or her parent is Chinese citizen, and another is foreign citizen.

10) An applicant of Chinese origin, born in Canada or other foreign country, has obtained a Chinese visa and applies the visa to China again is required to provide:

a. Photocopy of the previous Chinese visa, and photocopy of the previous Canadian passport (obtained the Chinese visa) personal information page.

b. Photocopy of the applicant’s Birth certificate. (The birth certificate obtain parents’ name.)

c. Current legal status in Canada for both applicants’ parents

If parent is holding permanent resident (PR card), please provide photocopy of current valid Chinese passport personal information page and photocopy both side of  PR card.

If parent is Canadian citizen, please provide photocopy of current valid Canadian passport personal information page
