Notice on Updated Information on Eligibility, Requirements and Process for Chinese Visa Application

As required by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in France, from June 20, 2022, the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Paris (hereinafter referred to as “ the Chinese Visa Centre”) will update information on the eligibility, requirements and the process for Chinese visa application as follows:

1.Application eligibility and requirements:

1.1 Work resumption

(1) Applicants who intend to work in China shall provide:“Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China”

His/her family members (spouse, parents, children under the age of 18, parents-in-law) who intend to accompany or visit him/her shall provide:

(a) Family members applying for a visa at the same time as the work visa applicant shall provide: documents for the work visa and an official document proving the family relationship (the original and a copy for S1; a copy for S2).

(b) Family members applying for a visa individually shall provide: an invitation letter provided by his/her family working in China, a copy of the inviter’s passport and his/her residence permit in China and an official document proving the family relationship (the original and a copy for S1; a copy for S2).

(2) Applicants who intend to resume their professional activities shall provide: an “Invitation Letter PU / TE or Verification Letter of Invitation”issued by relevant Chinese authorities and an invitation letter provided by their business partner in China. Their family members (spouse, parents, children under the age of 18, parents-in-law) who intend to travel together shall providean invitation letter and an official document proving the family relationship.
1.2 Humanitarian reasons

(1) Emergency humanitarian reasons : Applicants who intend to visit an family member (spouse, parents, parents-in-law, children, children's spouses, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandchildren) in critical medical condition, or to arrange funeral matters shall provide: an invitation letter provided by his/her family in China; a copy of the inviter’s Chinese ID; medical certificate, and an official document proving the family relationship.

(2) Family reunion and family visit: The family members of Chinese citizens and of foreigners with Chinese permanent residence permit (spouse, parents, parents-in-law, children, children's spouses, brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandchildren) shall provide:an invitation letter provided by his/her family in China; a copy of Chinese ID or foreign passport and permanent residence permit provided by the inviting parties; and an official document proving the family relationship (the original and a copy for Q1; a copy for Q2).

1.3 Applicants who qualify as a high-level talent or whose skills are urgently needed by China (R visa) shall provide:“Confirmation Letter for High Level Foreign Talents”. His/her accompanying family members applying for the S2 visa (spouse and children under the age of 18) shall providean official document proving the family relationship.

1.4 Crew visa: Applicants for the crew (C) shall providea letter of guarantee issued by a foreign transport company or an invitation letter issued by a relevant unit in China.

1.5 Other foreign nationals authorized to travel to China by the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in France. 

  • The above-mentioned applicants shall provide a certificate of vaccination anti-Covid-19.
  • The Chinese Visa Centre accepts only applications that meet the requirements.


2. Visa Application Process

Please visit the website of Chinese Visa Application Service Center in Paris (https://bio.visaforchina.org/PAR2_EN/) and fill in the Chinese Visa Application Form online. Be sure to print out the complete application form and sign the first and the eighth pages. Then make an appointment with the application form number following the system instructions and submit the application with all the required documents at the Chinese Visa Center.

3.3 According to the announcement on the official website of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in France dated November 5, 2020, entry into China for people in France holding valid Chinese visas issued after November 3, 2020 will not be affected.
