Notice on a controlled reopening service at the visa centre

Following the government guidance on social distancing rules, the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Pairs (hereinafter referred to as ‘the visa centre’), will begin a controlled, phased re-opening service from June 23rd.


1. The visa centre will be open on Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm for some specific categories of visa application. Please refer to item 2 below for visa requirements in detail. Collection service will be available on Tuesdays from 12:00pm to 15:00 pm.

The regular service will take 6 working days including the day of submission.The return postal service   will take 10 working days including the day of submission.The express service is not available at the moment.

2.  The following visa categories will be eligible for submission at the visa centre:

  (1) Crew visa (C): Please prepare all necessary documents and fill in the online application form before submission. No appointment will be required.

  (2) According to the Announcement regarding the Temporary Suspension of Entry of Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits published on March 26th, “Foreign nationals coming to China for necessary economic, trade, scientific or technological activities or out of emergency humanitarian needs may apply for visas at Chinese Embassies or Consulates”. The applicants for aforementioned purposes may inquire the visa center via email (pariscentre@visaforchina.org) by providing all the necessary documents.  Once pre-approved by the Chinese Embassy, the applicant can come to the visa centre to submit the application with the confirmation email, the online application form and all relevant supporting documents. No appointment will be required.

  (3) ‘Humanitarian needs’ in principle refers to visiting a direct family member who is in a critical condition in hospital, or attending a direct family member's funeral. Foreign passport holders who need to come to China for the aforementioned purposes will firstly send an email  to pariscentre@visaforchina.org with a detailed explanation, a scanned copy of proof of diagnosis issued by a hospital, and an officially recognized certificate of direct family relationship.  Once pre-approved by the Chinese Embassy, the applicant can come to the visa centre to submit the application with the confirmation email, the online application form and all relevant supporting documents. No appointment will be required.

3.  Health and hygiene requirements:
To ensure the security of all the people present at the centre, please follow the visa centre’s guidance in wearing a face mask and accepting obligatory temperature checking.
