Notice on Business Hour Adjustment effective from 10th November
Due to current situation, the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Manchester will adjust business hours effective from 10th November, 2020.

1) The visa centre will be open on Tuesdays
10.00 am to 13.00 pm for some specific categories of visa application and legalisation.

Collection service will be available on Tuesdays from 12:00pm to 14:00 pm. Regular service processing time is usually 2 working days including the date of submission. No express service.
*The processing time will be longer if the
General Consulate requires more supplementary documents.

Postal service is usually 2 weeks exclusive Royal Mail processing time.


2) Visa application requirements:

Applicant for emergency visit, crew visa or important business, scientific visit may still be eligible to apply a relevant visa at the Visa Centre.

Emergency visit refers to visit an immediate family member(Inc. parents, spouse, children, grandparents, grandchildren) who is in critical medical condition and in need of care, or arrange funeral matters of an immediate family member in China;

Photo copies of a medical certificate or death certificate, proof of relationships (Inc. birth certificate, marriage certificate, Chinese household registration, certificate letters from the local police bureau in China, notarial certificate of kinship, etc.),  an invitation letter from relatives in China, and copy of the both sides of the inviter's Chinese ID card are required.

If you are Chinese origin and apply for the visa for the first time, please also provide you last Chinese passport and a photocopy of its data page. If you are not applying for the first time, please provide a copy of your previous visa. Any personal information on your current passport differ from that on the previous passport or your Chinese passport, you must provide an official document of personal information change.

All visa applicants should send an email with scanned copy of all the required documents to Manchester visa centre (manchestercentre@visaforchina.org). Once pre-approved, you will be invited to attend an appointment at the visa centre to submit your visa application. Applications will not be accepted by post - applicants must come in person to the centre. Minor children under the age of 14 or adult over 70 are not required to go to the Visa Centre for biometric information collection.


3) Legalisation

Please make a proper legalisation appointment before submission.


4) To keep our staff safe, please follow the visa centre’s guidance in wearing a face covering and obligatory temperature checking.
